How to Get More Energy by David Lloyd
As a club Tennis Pro in Tampa, Florida, the one question I get over and over from my adult tennis students is: How can I get more energy?
Most of my adult tennis clinics are in the evening so, my students have been working all day and already crashed. They tell me that it always takes a lot of effort not to just stay at home and forego their weekly clinic.
Whenever they ask me this question, I always respond with: What are you eating? Some folks say they are eating pretty good and others just flat out admit that they are not.
I always pry a little deeper to see what the people, who say they are eating pretty good, actually mean. Nine times out of ten, what they think is pretty good, really is not.
The best way to boost your energy is to change your grocery shopping habits. The Paleo diet is derived from our Paleolithic ancestors. This diet involves eating healthy meat, organic vegetables and nuts. The fish should be wild-caught and the beef should be organic, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, grass-fed. Chicken should be organic, free-range, hormone-free.
The reason, why it’s very important to eat “clean” meat is, whatever is put into the animal will also be put in you. So, all the growth hormones that are injected into the animal, to make it as large as possible, will be passed on to you. Remember “you are what you eat”.
This is a healthy fat-rich, low sugar diet, one that is free from processed foods. A great rule of thumb is: if there are more than 5 ingredients on the label, do not buy it.
Followers of a Paleo diet report more energy, better digestion, improved gut health, and more. Healthy food choices can make all the difference in how much energy you have. Remember this is your body and you only get one. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Clear your kitchen cupboards of the sugar-laden, prepackaged, artificially colored and flavored foods. Replace all the junk food with whole and natural choices—when the foods aren’t in the cupboard, there is no temptation to eat them. Sorry, but don’t go to McDonalds!
Refill your cupboards with whole, natural, organic foods like grass-fed meats, cold-water fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, and healthful oils including olive oil, avocado oil, and coconut oil. In addition to eschewing processed foods, try to eliminate sugar, dairy, potatoes, rice, legumes, and cereal grains. **
According to Dr. Minkoff, founder of BodyHealth, “Often, a lack of protein can drain energy. All the enzymes in the body which are needed to manufacture energy use amino acids. In fact, the enzymes are made from amino acids and if you don’t have enough then, Perfect Greens will help boost your energy.” *
The best way to guarantee you will get the maximum amount of protein needed every day is to take Perfect Greens supplements. This product was formulated by Dr Minkoff from Body Health.
I’ve personally been living the Paleo lifestyle and taking the Perfect Greens Supplement for over a year now. I can’t tell you how much it has helped. If you ever see me out teaching on the courts at 8pm at night, take note of my energy level. I’ve probably been up since 6am and still going strong! Naps are not in my vocabulary. I wasn’t alway like this, and I attest the change to my diet and lifestyle change.
